what uh is it used for?

It lets you host an autorefreshing game that people from all three realms can join, it lets you get your friends in before you open it to the public, it doesn't disconnect everyone if the host leaves, it doesn't require you to have a working firewall to host things, and it improves latency as well.

That actually IS awesome. How does it work I want to try it but not in the mood to read the link.

It doesn't require any installation or anything, you just whisper this bot over battlenet and join it's game and you're good to go.

For map selection, the bot knows what you want to host, if you were to say "dota" it chooses the latest dota, if you say "Elemental TD" chooses the latest elemental TD. I haven't fiddled around with the map labelling specifically but it seems to know what you mean if you use acronyms, I host Advent of the Zenith, a fairly obscure map, and it knows what aotz is.

where is the map list?

I'm pretty sure it has everything, but idk I've not checked it out extensively.
