So its been a long time coming since my last update. I have been very busy with School and as such Project Azure Sky completely stalled. However I was learning a great deal over this year’s worth of Game Design. In the past ten weeks, I was Lead Sound Designer on a game called Spirit Iris, this game was in production for “Game Design and Development 2″ which is a required course for everyone in the Game Design major at RIT. while working on the game everyone in the group was asked to pick something they would like to do. In my case, I picked something I normally would put off to someone else and chose to do all the sound work in the game.

The game was developed in XNA and is roughly 75 megs unrared, 68 rared.

In our 10 weeks we only produced a Demo, this is not a full game. It probably will never be finished however it is playable and is a good demontration of our skills as a Team.

The Demo can be Downloaded HERE

If you have never played an XNA game on your computer before you will need to install THIS

As you know I am sound guy, and I am responsible for game sounds awesome. If the game doesn’t sound awesome, nobody wants play it :(

Sound… what to say about it.  I know in game gonna be lasers. Let’s make some lazors than! We can record sounds by using some toys or produce by using something else, good mic is needed, so we gonna have less work on deleting noise. If nothing can be found, let’s download something close to what we need and mix. Now let’s combine sounds we made/gathered and add some effects. Lasers love effects, with effects/mixing you can make probably any laser sounds like: random weak laser shot or huge ion cannon of space ship.

The more the better. Effects will decide what kind of laser we make. Once we satisfied ourselves with effects let’s adjust it. We need high sound or low? Pitch and Graphic Equalizer will help us. With pitch we can bring laser sound to ion cannon (lower sound by a lot). But laser sound might need other effects, if we use it. To make laser little bit lower and cut high Hz noisy sounds, than we should go straight for Graphic Equalizer. We also can make laser to sound really high, just like pew pew pew. Little bit balancing…

After job is done we just need to polish (sound speed/beating etc…) and add cue if sound is looping (repeating).

Making laser sound can take a few minutes or a few days. Making laser sound that exactly wanted, could take a while. Sometimes you just can’t make sound you want. Sometimes you fail at reproducing sound you heard or imaged. Sometimes you want to give up and sometimes nothing can feel better than compiling sound that you wanted for a long time.

Whoever says I don’t update is a liar.

It’s me, Snowman. You have all read about me on the About page but I haven’t actually said anything.

Why? Because I’ve been busy. But now that finals are over (almost) I’m not busy anymore.

So what do I do on this team?

I’m an Artist! I am currently finishing up the texture on the first airplane (as seen in the beta builds) and I’ve got some concepts running for planes in the future. I consistently do concept drawings, although they’re rarely shown to anyone. I have to draw stuff before I model it, it’s how I work.

I don’t really have anything to show right now. I have a half-done texture that I _could_ post but I don’t like posting work that isn’t finished. I’m a finished kind of guy.

So I’ll leave you with the knowledge that work is getting done. I’m serious, it is. And also here’s a screenie for polycount and wireframe.

Welcome Sverek to the team, He will be handling all sounds which will be heard in the game, from the first bullet to the last explosion. If you want to learn more about him go to his about page.

In other news I expect to have something to show by Sunday no Promises though.

Kain’s About Page is now Published And Snowman’s Page has been updated to include more information about his role in Project Azure Sky.

Speaking of Project Azure Sky, Considering how I am now situated back at School I will resume devlopement on it as I have been neglecting it because of the move. I will either rework the model display code, start player movement or create the particle sytem. I have yet to decide which I am most interested in coding at the moment. The Rest of the Options screens need to be completed as some of them are still placeholders. Snowman has also informed me that a rework on the current plane’s texture is nearing completion so expect a post from him sometime soon.

Both the Projects page and Snowman’s About have been updated. They both now contain information about our team and what Snowman has worked on. Useful if you are into trivia about the Team and it’s members

The About page is finally updated.

Many pages still need to be updated (and or created) however we are moving along, and once all the pages are done we can start reporting on the progress of Project Azure Sky. Remember In case you come across any broken pages or pages that contain incorrect information you can either send me a message on the forum or email me. However the forum is probably your best bet though.

As the title suggests, I have updated the Project Azure Sky Page to contain relevant information pertaining to where we are currently at in the project.

The page itself will not be updated as much as this Development blog itself. As I will post about whats going on in the project often without updating the project page

Hello everyone, and welcome to Alien Bobble Head Entertainment. I’m Kain and I’m the leader of ABH.

If you are wondering what we do here you will be hard pressed to find an excate answer however, For now lets just say we spend alot of time on our forum and playing many different types of games.

However Alien Bobble Head Entertainment itself is a video game devlopement house. At the moment we are currently working only on one game. We hope to have a fully playable demo (compared to our current tech demos) by at least December however dates are subject to change.
